Espera is a military city based in the center of the Iron Meadows. It is very defensible, regardless of its location. The city walls rise near forty feet, crowned with trebuchets, oil pots, and crack-shot archers who also double as constant guards. The city includes the Gold Spire Keep and the Tower of Knowledge within, which is rumored to be protected by an actual dragon named Aurianath.
Any and all who approach are said to smell death on the winds and can feel the oppression of eyes on them wherever they might try to hide. There are very few buildings left standing, and anything of value has been long since stripped of the area. The tower in the middle rises some 500 feet high, with black stone walls and a magical aura that usually sends meddlesome adventurers running away. Though considered by her people to be a just and wise ruler, Aurelia is NOT a welcoming hostess to outsiders. She governs the tower in the center of Gold Spire Keep and protects a wealth of knowledge that many seek, and none shall have.
Though they fought valiantly for decades, Espera eventually fell to the Dark Army, followed by the whole of Indaria. Fleeing to the Silmerian court for her own protection, it was there that Aurelia learned the art of warcraft and magic. With Marek at her side, she managed to rally her broken people and returned to Indaria to claim what was rightfully hers. Expelling the Sargothian dragon who had taken over, Aurianath spent the next decade maintaining their hold of the city.
It was a thousand years in the making, but the glorious Gold Spire Keep of Espera was resurrected and the dispersed relics returned to their rightful place. Taking on the title of Queen, she has ruled and rallied allies against the Dark Army for 1500 years now, with no signs of giving up her hold.
Mostly good and neutral.
Allies / Enemies
Espera is in good standing with the city of Arcavanna as well as with Andra, Casimir, and Malthis. Their biggest threat comes from Jazir in Akhetamen and the Dark Army who terrorizes the land in between.
It varies by season, but women often wear gowns of silk or cotton, draped off the shoulder in the spring and summer. Doublets and tunics are popular amongst men. Gold and jewelry with bright, glistening stones are often used as adornments.
Espera celebrates all of the common Kadmian holidays.
